Abuse Woman Stop Fear Violence Against Women Beat

The Rape

On November 27, 2019, In Hyderabad, 4 guys committed a horrendous gang rape, and the victim was a young lady doctor. When her return home was delayed, the worried family went to the police station to lodge a compliant and the cops say that possibly their daughter has eloped. Then they started discussing jurisdiction.

The Cops Dilly Dallied

The cops wasted 3 hours and in this interim the heinous deed was done and the lady was killed by these human animals in an extremely beastly manner.

Cops go with accuse to reconstruct the crime at 3 am

Today December 06, 2019 in the morning between 3 am and 6 am the police took the accused to “reconstruct” the crime at the crime scene.

B-Grade Plot – They Ran, We Shot Them, Country Celebrates

To cut the long story short, apparently the accused tried to escape, and were shot dead by the cops. Simply shot dead.

And the country celebrates.

So did I. Yes, I must admit that when I read the news at around 8 am, I gave a whoop of joy, said a prayer for the cops, and said WOW ! Great Job.

Celebrate extra judicial killing ! WTF !

Then, I read the report and said WTF !

But there are a majority of folks among my friends on the various groups, and many other folks on twitter etc who are happy and out in support of the action. I just cannot understand this support for extra judicial action.

Especially for an ‘encounter killing’ which is based on a plot which is worse than a B-grade movie. Even a child will be able to point out the lies.

Someone said this will send out a message to all wannabe rapists and I really doubt this. This may put the fear in the Hyderabad rapists but what about those across the country.

What about these cases and more

If people really think this is it then what about all the cases all over the country these and more (I list a few cases):

  • Ranchi law student abducted and gang-raped, 12 arrested
  • Rohtak: 9-year-old dies after being raped by her father
  • Unnao case: Thrashed, stabbed, set ablaze, rape survivor run
  • Woman’s burnt body found in West Bengal, rape suspected
  • Telangana: BJP youth leader booked for sexual harassment

This is in the news as I write this blog. As I write I also see celebrities tweeting in support of this action and these are people do not utter a single word or character when some political figure is involved. Besides the big names there is this celebrity who says “Satyamev Jayatey” – WTF – how dare she use this while recommending killing.

Is this the solution !

Like i said earlier, my first reaction was of happiness to read about the summary justice meted out to the alleged criminals. But this is not a solution to the grave problem of rape and crimes against women.

For a long time there is a clarion call for special courts but this is not happening. Swift justice and punishment IS THE SOLUTION not extra judicial action. We need courts to handle these crimes and hand out strict punishments – capital punishment! in the shortest possible time.

We do not need badly staged encounter killings. India is not a banana republic and lets not make it one.
