Indian Armed Forces – the pride of the country

I am sharing a few facts that show government, bureaucracy and filmi / celebrity apathy towards the soldiers who have laid down their lives or war veterans who have been rendered disabled. Compare with the perks and adulation for the babus and others against the unsung heroes mentioned in this post. Many among us are quick to make jingoistic statements and tom-tom their patriotism but shed crocodile tears for the enemy. God help us with this spineless tribe who have to ask their fathers to bail them out.

Then in the aftermath of the Uri attacks and the subsequent actions by the Indian Armed forces, we have had a number of such folks who should be ashamed to calle themselves Indians.

And I mean filmstars like Om Puri, Salman Khanand his Dad (poor kid had to run to papa), Karan Johar and others .. I hate to even write their names for the disgust they have generated among us!

At the same time one must give kudos to Nana Patekar and Anupam Kher and Adnan Sami for stepping up.

Where are the cricket gods .. or the filmstar gods who promote fairness creams and failed builders etc.

The disgusting Indians should read about these valiant men and cry for deliverance from the hurt caused by their words and actions…

LT COL KARAN SINGH NATT

Lt Col Karan Singh Natt was second in command of a Territorial Army Battalion. On 22 Nov 15 in an encounter with terrorists he got a bullet in his jaw which shattered his face. This happened in Haphruda forest of Kupwara. He was evacuated. Due to choking by blood flowing into his throat he was paralyzed. He is still in Hospital. He cannot move his limbs. His sensory organs cannot function. Till very lately some assistance was required for him to breath and to clean his saliva. Someone else has to feed him. Someone else has to clean him. His wife & two daughters have to look after him.

Life will be difficult for him and his family when he retires. But this is of no consequence to the Babus who feel that they are doing a better job than anyone else. The same has been demonstrated amply in the recent govt resolution on Pension where in they have kept slab system for faujis and percentage system for themselves for grants of disability pension. Which means they will keep getting increased disability pension as time passes, whereas this poor fauji will get a fixed amount.

He will get Rs 27000 ($397) per month as disability pension in case of 100% disability assessed.

SUBEDAR MAHENDER SINGH

Subedar Mahender Singh from special forces is a soldier decorated with Sena Medal and Kirti Chakra. He is from a family of soldiers from Rajasthan. A diver who saved a number of lives. On night 02/03 September 2015 he led his troop to an encounter in which four terrorists were killed. He personally killed two terrorists. During the encounter, his jawan got injured. To extricate his jawan he crawled to him. In this process terrorists fired at him and he got hit in his spine & stomach. In spite of pain and deteriorating condition he asked his team members not to come forward. Instead, in that condition he crawled to a safe position from where he was evacuated. Due to spinal injury his spinal fluid leaked and his intestine got severe infection. Till today he has very little sensation in his lower limbs. Puss oozes out of his spine. His fecal matter is collected in a bag through a bag attached to his intestine.

Life will never be same for him and his family. His children & wife have to devote a lot of time on his care. The time which they could have devoted for the betterment of their career.

But the irony is he will get less disability pension due to fixed slab than a Babu who got disabled while doing a sedentary job in some metro.

He will get Rs 17000 ($250) per month as disability pension in case of 100% disability assessed.

NAIK BHARAT KUMAR GIRI

Naik Bharat Kumar Giri of Bihar Regiment got multiple gunshot wounds in the Uri Incident. His abdomen was ruptured, his right side of chest got badly injured breaking a couple of ribs. Since 18 Sep 16 doctors are trying hard to revive his health. He suffered a cardiac arrest also in the hospital .

With those kind of injuries his life will have to be assisted by someone constantly . He will have to go for medical care perpetually. Even if he gets 100% disability pension, it will be just Rs 12000 ($176) per month which will remain constant for the next ten years i.e. if the next pay commission may consider an up-gradation. The amount is insufficient to hire even an assistance and live an honorable life. The irony is that a Babu serving in Delhi getting disabled due to something trivial will get much more and ever increase disability pension . Is it justified?

HAVILDAR SUNIL KUMAR SINGH

During The Uri Incident Havildar Sunil Kumar Singh of Bihar Regiment got gun shot wounds in his pelvic area and limbs. This gunshots shattered his bones. With lot of efforts doctors may be able to repair some of these but still he will require assistance in all his day to day activities throughout his life. For the cause of the nation he will loose his right to play games with his children. In fact children will become his crutches and have to devote time to him at the cost of their career.

If he gets 100 percent disability pension he will get Rs 12000 ($176) per month which may be of some value today, but its value will be much less after two – three years. Then he will not even be able to hire an assistance to take him for the medical care which he will perpetually need. This is in sharp contrast to a Babu getting ever increasing disability pension.

LANCE NAIK HANAMANTHAPPA KOPPAD

Lance Naik Hanamanthappa Koppad, whose miraculous survival, days after an avalanche hit an Army post on the Siachen Glacier, transfixed the nation. He died on 11 Feb 2016. Sitting in heaven he would have been very surprised at the recent govt resolution on pension. Surprised because the govt fails to recognize the kind of compensation which is befitting for the sacrifice. Had he survived he would certainly have lost his limbs and a number of his senses. But he would have got Rs 12000 ($176) per month as disability pension and much less disability pension (if judged 100%), much less than an obese Babu getting a heart attack sitting an air conditioned room in a metro.

If this is not enough for the anti national celebrities to dig a hole in their backyard, it is time for them to issue a pubic apology. Not that any such action can be expected from them. If these guys cannot apologize even when killing pavement dwellers in cold blood one cannot expect an iota of empathy.

And for us who do carry national pride- let us say prayers everyday for the brave men and women and their families who keep the enemy at bay.

A word for the Gods of cricket and moviedom – guys you need to shout as loud as you do at the award ceremonies – come down from your pedestals and shove your ego you know where.

It’s time now the patriotic citizens of the country start questioning the politicians and the Babu’s to give the soldiers their dues, value their sacrifices and recognize their worth. The judiciary needs to take note and intervene to ensure there is no bias and the armed forces dignity& pride is maintained and they are well compensated.
