UIDAI ki gandee baat

Aadhaar continues to be in the news, more and more, louder and louder, all for the wrong reasons. The only people making noise in support of UIDAI is they themselves or those who have left themselves no choice because they have taken the route of blind subservience.

(I was happy to see Mr Shatrughan Sinha have the ba*** to say it out loud to UIDAI.
http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/are-we-living-in-a-banana-republic-asks-shatrughan-sinha-after-reporter-booked-for-aadhaar-story/1/1125755.html)

While the anti-aadhaar or pro-Aadhaar brigades make their noises to shaft, terminate or do whatever, there is a big risk that has arisen that no one has yet talked about.

UIDAI has weakened national security with their action . The Indian whitehat has a pretty low opinion of the Government institutions and their lack of support. UIDAI has done a disservice to the naion by this cheap shot at the whistleblower.

There is a large population of young infosec professionals who are engaged in their personal research. These youngsters continuously call for bugbounty or responsible disclosure and both calls are stonewalled. Over the years some of these people have been mitreated / threatened by the very entities they have tried to help but they still work at it in the spirit of doign their thing for the country.

Now UIDAI has said it loud and clear – we don’t want anyone in the country to help. National security and Responsible Disclosure can go to hell. So if you tell me that my zipper is open, or that there is some crap on my pants I shall report you for harrassment.. or I will tell to mummmy! And, I will burn you with my bad breath!

Thank you UIDAI for bringing unwanted national attention to your farts and warts. Hopefully you will take heed and try to clean up the mess you are living in. It is a well known fact that all ye gormint people think that any advice from a domiciled citizen is all BS…. but a gora’s BS is “aakashvani” for you!

Anyway now you have it – the word of Mr Snowden and Mr Troy Hunt will soon tell u what’s right and what’s wrong.

WHatever any of them may say _ I dont know if you realize the damage you have done to the national fabric. I will list it for you:
1. You have bourght your failires and ego on tot he international platrform. The world is seeing how shoddlly the government handles whistleblowers and the low level of freedom of speecn
2. You have shown the world that you are NOT the IT superpower you try to showoff – You are supposed to the world’s largest database of biometrica and cannot even manage access cotnrls
3. YOu have demondtrated your shallow ego and the fact that your knee jerk reactions are roof tat you are hiding soemm.. nay, you are hiding a LOT of shi***
4. Dont be surprises if some crappy nation will make use of this idiotic action of yours on an international forum like UN to score brownie points against us.
5. You have just shown the world that we do not believe in responsible disclosure, so CERT-IN and NCIIPC or any of the other institutiosn cannot be trusted too. ANy of them may turn around and bite the researcher at any time.
6. You have just shown us that if one has the guts to make a disclosure, onne must make sure to have a good amount of money and a strong legal team.
7. Yo have also told us and the world that if any of the government websites or department “leak” data it is okay but if someoneoen tells you that your sh** is sttinking you pull out your guns and scream.
8. You have shown the world how we, in India, cover up our weaknesses by simply killing the common man who dares tell us we have no clothes.
9. FINALLY – YOU HAVE JUST DRIVEN A BIG HOLE INTO THE BIGGGEST NATIONAL SECURITY RESOURCE OF THE COUNTRY – VIZ. THE WHITEHAT ETHICAL HACKERS WHO RELENTLESSLY RESEARCH BUGS AND REPORT THEM (EVEN IF THEY ARE TWEEORORZED FOR THEIR REPORTS)

Inspite of the low trust levels, these guys contiune their good work, inpite of the fact that egosts like youreself do not fix reported bugs they continued their good job.

And, remember, that inspite of you these whistleblowers, these hackers, these whitehars / blackhats et al will do their work, but they may NOT tell you. Don’t be surprised when you find yourself staring into a black hole or your dirt is sold in the dark market. If likes of NSA, OPM etc could be frikked, you are just a “mooli” in your kitchen garden.

Can you, for once, stop showing how fooliishly blind you are to reality – this is the cyber age and the only way ahead is by living in the spirit of cooperation, informmation sharing, community support. A whistleblower is your well wisher and not a criminal and you should be ashamed of the charges you have levelled against the journalizt.
